Moving Minds – IPRS Joint Venture
10:30 on Friday 29th July 2011IPRS and Moving Minds, the leading specialists in their respective fields of musculoskeletal injury management and psychological rehabilitation, are joining forces. This is the first collaboration ever to have occurred between two independent single service providers in the UK.
By harnessing their combined expertise, experience and award-winning rehabilitation programmes, IPRS and Moving Minds are introducing a ground-breaking approach to the management of injury and ill-health, which addresses the interaction between mental and physical health issues in a practical manner. Integrated clinical care pathways safely ensure that a person’s needs are met on both levels at the right time. All too often in the past, psychological needs have gone unrecognised until after the physical symptoms have been treated – a ‘medical silo’ approach, which has delayed recovery for the patient and added expense to the bottom-line in terms of absence management and claims cost.
Through their market-leading capability, IPRS and Moving Minds offer a comprehensive and seamless 360 degree assessment and treatment service for patients, ensuring an individual’s needs are met in the best possible way through evidence-based interventions. This approach also provides predictable cost-effective outcomes for rehabilitation funders, avoids treatment drift and needless or inappropriate interventions, and, by working together prevents fragmentation and wasted administration cost.
The union between IPRS and Moving Minds came about through a ‘meeting of clinical minds’ – both organisations passionate about delivering clinical excellence and raising standards as they draw respectively upon their involvement in cutting-edge international sports medicine and acclaimed published research.
David Bingham, Group Chief Executive of IPRS, comments:
“We are delighted to be a part of this exciting venture. Working closely with Moving Minds, we are now able to offer clients advice from a unified source. Further assistance in managing insurance cases can also be given to claims handlers and employers, thus easing their workload, and referrers will be made aware much earlier in the rehabilitation process of how successful the ongoing treatment is likely to be.”
Dr Manda Holmshaw, Clinical Director of Moving Minds, also expressed her delight at the joint venture:
“We now have the opportunity to seize the two most prevalent problems insurers and claimants are struggling with in 2010 – mental health problems and musculoskeletal complaints – through a joined up approach, which addresses the widespread fragmentation in the current market. This meeting of professional minds heralds a new era in rehabilitation in the UK – the market is coming of age and living up to the challenge!”
