Most Recent Research Results: Moving Minds, 2010 We have recently completed a paper for the Journal of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.This can be found here In the largest sample size in the world of individuals who were involved in a road traffic accident in the UK, Moving Minds has analysed the results of treatment in a consecutive series of patients 692 patients had all acquired a trauma related psychological condition as a result of a road accident, typically 21 months before referral for treatment Men and women, children and older people were studied PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder), Travel Anxiety and other conditions were commonly present, due to the preceding accident. Treatment findings All patients were offered evidence based, trauma-focused psychological treatment, namely CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and/or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). (These are the two treatments recommended by NICE - The National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence). Generic counsellors were not used. Treatment was carried out by mental health professionals with membership of their respective professional bodies. They also had additional training in CBT and/or EMDR and knowledge of psychological trauma
