Moving Minds offers a variety of psychological assessments.  All our assessments are performed by experienced mental health practitioners such as clinical psychologists, and overseen by our medical advisory committee.

The most frequently used assessment for personal injury cases is our standard psychological assessment.  This report is intended for treatment purposes, and the majority of cases referred to Moving Minds will require a standard psychological assessment.

The aim of the assessment is to understand the person's current difficulties and their consequences, as well as past difficulties and developmental history. The more comprehensive the history is, the better the mental health specialists can understand what the person is going through now.

In income protection cases, an occupational rehabilitation assessment would be carried out.  This assessment is to determine a treatment plan to help the person return to work.  It will also look at the client's own motivation and willingness to work.

Moving Minds also offers more comprehensive assessments, including neuropsychological, psychiatric and medico-legal reports.

A neuropsychological assessment is sometimes necessary if the client has or might have a brain injury. This will help to determine the psychological nature of the injury in terms of symptoms that can be treated and those that are more permanent.

A psychiatric assessment may be necessary if psychotropic medication is required.

A medico-legal report can be written if evidence of the client's psychological injury is needed in court.  The specialist author may also be asked to appear in court as an expert witness.

We also offer desktop assessments at Moving Minds.  A desktop assessment does not involve face to face contact.  If there are various reports available from different professionals for example psychological, psychiatric, neuropsychological and medical, Moving Minds's medical advisory committee will review these reports and assess the client based on these reports.

Moving Minds is a signatory to the Rehabilitation Code of Best Practice. We work independently of the litigation process and treatment reports are no used in court.
