Moving Minds is the provider of choice for psychological assessment and treatment and now also a provider of choice for quality legal educational seminars. We are proud to launch our new CPD programme aimed at enhancing the emotional awareness skills of personal injury legal professionals. Moving Minds' Law Society-accredited CPD training programme is designed for legal professionals specialising in personal injury. Our comprehensive contemporary programme is tailored to enhance the awareness of
Moving Minds' industry-experienced clinicians and trainers will provide participants with a greater understanding of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), travel phobia, Acute Stress Disorder, depression, generalised anxiety and physical chronic pain, conditions often arising in particular from road traffic accident trauma. Although this is a very new agenda in the legal profession, lawyers have more in common than they perhaps realise in terms of awareness and training needs with other professions which deal with trauma, such as police, emergency workers and the media. In recent years, those professions have all begun to implement routine trauma-awareness programmes, and Moving Minds is pleased to be bringing this training for the first time to the legal profession. On our half-day courses, personal injury legal professionals will gain a greater insight into the role of psychiatrists and psychologists, of the clinical understandings that inform their reports, of psychometric testing applicable to trauma-related conditions and the current recommendations for effective treatment drawn up by the UK's National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). This practical information will help legal professionals to understand and provide what their clients most need in their distress after experiencing psychological trauma. . Participants will also learn about current research into treatment for psychological disorders, the number of treatment sessions required and what clients and their legal teams can expect from that treatment. By understanding the effective and evidence-based treatment options available to clients affected by emotional injury, Personal Injury Legal Professionals will be able more effectively both to deal with and represent the interests of clients who have experienced psychological trauma. Moving Minds also takes on referrals for solicitors, offering a service tailored to personal injury or income protection claims, adhering to the Rehabilitation Code of Best Practice. Upon referring a case to Moving Minds we provide a psychological case manager who will manage the case from referral through to treatment and recovery. Our assessment report, which is intended for treatment purposes, will show the extent of which a person's presenting psychological symptoms are related the claim incident. The report will also provide objective psychometric tests to measure symptoms which are interpreted for you. This report, like all reports, is overseen by our medical advisory committee. We provide regular progress reports to keep case handlers updated on the client's treatment; the progress report will include the psychometric scores similar to those in the assessment report to provide a subjective measure of change. For all queries or updates, the psychological case manager assigned to the case can be contacted by telephone, email or post. |
